Job Title: Head of Advocacy and Communication

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Head of Advocacy and Communication (HAC) is responsible for the development and implementation of overall Advocacy Strategy and Communications Plan, in promotion of Creative Youth Agency activities.
  • Based on Creative Youth Agency’s programming priorities, he/she identifies key issues for advocacy and communications, preparing and implementing strategies and messages across our entire humanitarian and development work.
  • The HAC ensures effective documentation of evidence and good practice.
  • The HAC leads gathering and developing engaging visual and written material that voices the gaps in fulfilling our mandate, effectively explains Creative Youth Agency’s work and engages a wide range of external audiences in our work.
  • S/he succeeds in establishing strong and strategic partnerships with like-minded
    organisations in advancing the youth development and sustainability.
  • The HAC oversees traditional media and related external communications activities and leads in developing effective online social media strategies to engage the wider public.
  • In addition, the HAC builds capacity of Technical Specialists and Regional Area
    Managers in undertaking advocacy activities in line with the Creative Youth Agency Advocacy
    Strategy.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  – HEAD OF ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATION (HAC)

  • The applicant must hold a good master’s or bachelor’s degree with three years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism or related field; or hold a bachelor’s degree with three years of experience in a relevant sector
  • Excellent English writing skills and fluency, in at least one other Ugandan language.
  • Possess prior experience conducting communications campaigns and, capacity building efforts in Uganda
  • Fully competent in information systems management, particularly in publications software
  • Ability to regularly and flexibly travel between districts and designated project units.
  • The applicant must possess a high degree of motivation.
